England head to Qatar with best chance of winning a World Cup in a generation. Three Lions have endured worst run of form since 1992 and are bottom of the Euro 2016 qualifying group.
4. France
France knocked out of Euro 2020 by Switzerland in the Round of 16. The game ended 3-3 following a crazy 120 minutes of action, nine players scored for Switzerland. Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema is back in the squad after years in the wilderness.
3. Argentina
Lionel Messi may call it a day at the World Cup after this tournament. Their credentials continue to solidify with fewer superstar names in the mix but a more cohesive system underpinning those who remain.
2. Belgium
Belgium have reached the quarter-finals in each of their last four major tournaments. Roberto Martinez's team are buoyed by a fading golden age of superstar names. A poor showing at Qatar may see them fade from the scene at the top of the world rankings.
1. Brazil
Brazil are currently the world's top-ranked team heading into the 2022 World Cup. The Samba Boys have never won the World Cup, and haven't reached a semi-final since 2002.
